Day 1
Fly to Vietnam from the UK, arriving tomorrow (holidays can also be arranged without flights)
Day 2
Arrive to Hanoi, where you will be met by your private driver and guide to transfer to your hotel for check in. After time relaxing, enjoy a guided city tour to visit the Hoa Lo Prison or Ethnology Museum. If time permits, visit the Temple of Literature and West Lake.
Day 3
The day is free at your leisure in the city to explore the main sights at your own pace or relax at your hotel. In the late afternoon our vespa drivers will pick you up from your hotel for a fun street food tour around the city.
Day 4
Leave the city behind and venture to one of the most beautiful spots in Vietnam; Halong Bay. The 4 hour drive takes you though the countryside before arriving for an overnight cruise around the bay. Sail around the limestone karts, visit hidden beaches and kayak or swim in the emerald waters.
Day 5
As the sun rises over Halong Bay, take part in a Tai Chi lesson on the upper deck of your junk boat. Continue your cruise around the bay, visiting a beach on one of the islands and enjoying a cooking demonstration with your chef. Head back to shore and transfer to the Hanoi city centre before taking the overnight train to Dong Hoi (private cabin included).
Day 6
Arrive to Dong Hoi train station in the early hours and meet with your driver and guide. Continue by road to your hotel in Phong Nha National Park. Check in, enjoy breakfast and spend the day at leisure. We recommend exploring the national park and caves today or relaxing at your local lodge.
Day 7
Today we have included a full day or half day tour of the National Park and cave complexes. The day will be planned around your fitness and interests as there are a number of trails you can take but we highly recommend a visit to the famous Paradise Cave, which was opened to the public in 2010 and is one of the largest caves in Asia. Options are also available to enjoy camping in the caves on extended treks (please ask for details)
Day 8
This morning continue to explore the caves before your transfer to Hue (around 4-5 hours drive). Arrive to Hue and spend the afternoon at leisure. Additional sightseeing can be arranged in Hue to visit the Imperial Citadel and Tombs.
Day 9
Travel from Hue to Hoi An over the Pass of Ocean Clouds, stopping along the way at the fishing village of Lang Co. This scenic drive offers stunning views over the Vietnamese coastline. Arrive to Hoi An this afternoon and spend the rest of the day exploring the old town.
Day 10
Full day at leisure in Hoi An to relax on the beach or by your pool
Day 11
Second full day at leisure in Hoi An
Day 12
Another full day at leisure. We recommend a half day cooking class today or a jeep adventure to My Son UNESCO site.
Day 13
Full day at leisure on the beach in Hoi An - for those who prefer less beach time, we can extend your time in Hue or Saigon
Day 14
Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Saigon. After dropping off your luggage, enjoy a private guided city tour to visit the Presidential Palace, Old Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral. If time permits visit the War Remnants Museum or Ben Thanh Market.
Day 15
Head out of the city, travelling through the countryside to the Mekong Delta. Here you will spend the day exploring the waterways by boat, cycling along the narrow lanes through the fertile countryside and making friends with the locals. Make a stop at a tropical orchard, visit traditional workshops and finish your day with a delicious meal at a stunning 100 year old house.
Day 16
This morning enjoy some time at leisure in the city to pick up souvenirs or squeeze in an early morning tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels before transferring to the airport for your departure flight home.

This 2-week itinerary showcases the natural beauty of Vietnam and the diversity of the country; from the hustle of bustle of Hanoi’s Old Quarter to the sleepy riverside villages of the Mekong Delta, and the highlight of the tour – the addition of the unmissable Phong Nha Caves. We like to get our clients off the beaten path and an overnight train through the countryside with 2 days at Phong Nha certainly does just that.

An ideal holiday for first-timer to Vietnam, or those making a return visit, we have made sure to include the essential highlights; cycling through emerald paddy fields and narrow lanes in the Mekong Delta, a cruise on a traditional junk around towering karsts of Halong Bay, a visit to the imperial city of Hue, time spent exploring the metropolitan pulse of Saigon and an adventurous overnight train ride down to Dong Hoi.

Plenty is included in your two weeks, but the best bit? A 5-night stay on the palm-fringed beaches around Danang – the ultimate destination for some well deserved R&R. Spend days relaxing by the pool or pop into Hoi An town to enjoy the unique ambience, tour the temples and feast on the delectable Central Vietnamese cuisine.

2 nights Hanoi – overnight cruise around Halong Bay (2 days/1 night, full board) – day use hotel in Hanoi – overnight train from Hanoi to Dong Hoi (private cabin) –  2 nights Phong Nha National Park – 1 night Hue – 5 nights Hoi An – 2 nights Saigon
