Day 1

Fly overnight from London to Hanoi.

Day 2

Probably having transferred en route, arrive in Hanoi. The remainder of the day is left free to relax after the long international flights.

Day 3

Morning city tour of Hanoi to help orientate and then time to explore the Old Quarter at your own pace in the afternoon and evening.

Day 4

A full day at leisure to continue your exploration of Hanoi. In the evening you are taken to the station to catch the overnight train to Lao Cai in the remote north of Vietnam.

Day 5

You are met off the train and take the road to Sapa. Explore the small town in the afternoon.

Day 6

A full day trek through some of the Tonkinese Alps' most stunning scenery.

Day 7

Head to Bac Ha (if we manage to time this for a Sunday) to the colourful weekly market, before driving back to Lao Cai in the evening for your return train to Hanoi. If not on a Sunday, then a detour to Lung Khau Nhin may suffice.

Day 8

Freshen up when you arrive back in Hanoi and enjoy breakfast at a hotel, before transferring to Halong City, where you will board your traditional Vietnamese junk. Spend the afternoon cruising around Halong Bay's thousands of limestone islets and caves.

Day 9

Wake up to witness sunrise over Halong Bay. Continue your cruise before transferring to Hanoi Airport for your flight south to Central Vietnam. On arrival transfer to Hue.

Day 10

Half day city tour covering the highlights of Hue, with the afternoon at leisure to continue exploring the town at your own pace.

Day 11

This morning depart for the stunning drive to Hoi An over the Hai Van Pass - be sure to take in the beautiful scenery and stop to explore the fishing villages of Lang Co before arriving in Hoi An. This afternoon your guide will take you on a walking tour of Hoi An to orientate yourself with this pretty town.

Day 12

Day at leisure in Hoi An - there are many excurisons available or alternatively enjoy your time by relaxing on the beautiful beaches.

Day 13

Day at leisure.

Day 14

Morning flight to Saigon. From your arrival at the airport head straight out to the Cu Chi Tunnels, before continuing to your city centre hotel. Afternoon at leisure in Saigon.

Day 15

Today enjoy a half day city tour in Saigon, to include the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Catherdral, Ben Thanh Market and Rue Catinat. Spend the remainder of your day at leisure.

Day 16

Travel deep in to the Mekong Delta, with an overnight cruise on The Bassac.

Day 17

Rise early to find yourself in the middle of an incredible floating market during the peak of its activity. Disembark for lunch and drive back to Saigon Airport for your evening flight home.
