This is a resort for those seeking perfect seclusion – it’s an 8-mile trip north to town (Qui Nhon) if you feel in desperate need of restaurants, shops or nightlife. There really is nothing much around the resort itself, making it an ideal spot to be marooned for a several days and take ‘time-out’ of your itinerary. The beach is wonderful, the rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated and, for many, the remote location seals the deal.

‘Life Resorts’ properties have an appealing simplicity about them – well designed and tasteful, they aren’t ostentatious or pretentious in any away. However, it’s the beach that is the main attraction here and the resort layout makes great use of the deserted sands. Rooms are large and elegantly done and all have views to the sea. The grounds are expansive with plenty of greenery, punctuated with day beds. You’re not likely to feel crowded here even if the resort is full, which is often the case – popularity being a marker of quality. If guests are filling the loungers beside the pool, then you should simply head to the beach. It’s nicer anyway!

The staff are invariably friendly and helpful, but some guests have found their language skills wanting. However, as the remoteness from other tourist-centres is a large part of the appeal – then a little tolerance of these shortcomings will make for a happier stay. Food also gets mixed reviews – in part since travellers are mostly confined to the resort for all meals. The limitations of the menu can be an issue for those on longer stays, but most will find it more than adequate for just a few days. The Avani Life Wellness Resort is great place to relax and break your journey. The ‘Wellness’ of the title alludes to an impressive spa, set in a 3,000 square metre garden oasis overlooking the ocean, with treatments for both relaxation and re-invigoration.
