The Fusion Maia Resort, on China Beach, is an upmarket beach resort and a destination spa, combined as one. Indeed, it is not one without the other – all guests receive two complimentary daily spa treatments which you are encouraged to take and all spa aficionados will struggle to resist simply lounging on the white sand beach. There aremore than 80 large, sleek and ‘oh-so-stylish’ villas (also read as ‘minimalist’) and each and every one of them has its own private pool. Once inside, expect lots of white with wine-red furniture, bright cushions and wooden lattice-work. Additional comforts abound, such as swivel televisions over the bathtub, outdoor terraces with a comfortable seating area, in-room fresh coffee machines, iPods with playlists pre-loaded and outside rain showers. Four villas with two bedrooms and three luxurious beachfront two or three bedroom villas with ocean views complete the picture.
Whilst keen to promote itself first and foremost as the ‘largest destination spa in Vietnam’, the Fusion Maia is also an opportunity for un-ashamed indulgence. The resort has a superb restaurant with al-fresco dining available beyond the traditional restaurant setting. The cuisine is Asia focused, with a few western dishes also served. The cocktail bar offers a huge drinks menu, all served with style and smiles. Particularly appreciated is the ‘breakfast any place, any time’ concept – when traveling on itineraries often beset by early mornings, this freedom is both liberating and welcome. The facilities are extensive including a pool with waterfall, library, yoga room, steam and sauna rooms and private jacuzzis.
Fusion Maia is on a wide stretch of beach close to both the international airport in Danang and not far at all from Hoi An (25 min in the complimentary shuttle bus).
